WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU TURN ON YOUR PC AND SEE A BLANK SCREEN?

Blue screen monitor

This problem may be caused by a dead system or may be a problem with the video subsystem. A system is often assumed to be a “dead” system when the problem is really with the monitor.

  • Verify that the monitor is plugged in, turned on, and adjusted correctly.
  • Listen for a spinning drive or fan and look for lights on the front panel of the PC case to verify the stem has power.
  • Check power outlets, on/off switches, cable connections, and fuses
If you tried all of the above and it  still not working, you would want to check you sound  card or video accelerator card it might be defected.

Symptom: No graphics display or the screen goes blank when loading certain programs
  • A special graphics or video accelerator card is defective of not present.
  • Software is not configured to do graphics, or the software does not recognize the installed graphics cards.
  • The video card may not support this resolution and/or color setting.
  • There may not be enough video RAM; 2MB or more may be required.
  • The added (socketed) video RAM may be of a different speed than the soldered memory.
  • The wrong adapter/display type may be selected. Start Windows to reset display.
  •     Using Windows, remove and reinstall the video drivers.
